The temperature is still only 14 degrees. In the sun it may be a tad warmer, but not much. It's nice coming in the windows, and Woody has been following sunny patches from room to room - stretching full length until the sun shifts away and then he gets up and moves to another sunny spot. Early this morning Woody begged to go out, so Fred let him go into the garage; Woody was knocking to come back in within a minute and a half, Fred said. Smart cat. Even we humans have a hard time figuring out the outside temperature from just looking outside.
Fred was out early this morning to go to recycle. He took a picture out on Brickett's Crossing Road - looks like winter, doesn't it? The roads have been plowed, but the snowbanks haven't built up much yet, of course. If this snow stays with us, this will be one of the earliest onsets of winter weather we've had in a while.
Later on, Fred got a picture of the wind towers over in Lowell. That's Jay Peak in the background, I believe. The towers show up especially well when the sun is shining on them. You may have to click on the picture to make it large enough to see them. I wonder if all wind towers are set that far apart?
We just learned our friend, John Jenkins, who bought the log cabin at the top of Sandy Beach Road from Jeff Downs a couple years ago, is moving back to Colorado. We are very sorry to lose John as a neighbor, but understand this will be a good career move for him. The log cabin is for sale again - I think Begin's Realty has it.
I guess everyone is getting ready for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, the forecast is a nasty storm is headed this way that will hit us on Wednesday, which will probably mean lots of travelers will be delayed or stranded so may not make it at all. Thanksgiving Day doesn't look quite as bad, but we may be digging out from the Wednesday's storm. We could have power outages, too, and that could mean a whole lot of trouble going on in a bunch of kitchens. Of course we know these dire forecasts sometimes turn out to be not nearly as bad as predicted, so we'll keep our fingers crossed that everything runs smoothly, emergency crews aren't called out to sand and plow, turkeys get cooked on time, and everyone has a lovely day.
