Look who's been hanging out in Ray and Evelyn Richer's yard this week!  This guy doesn't look like he's been fasting all winter, but I bet he's hungry.  Evelyn says she hasn't been out to work in her gardens yet - I think she's wise to keep out of the way of this one.

This is a good reminder that bears are out and about and usually hungry this time of year.  Be careful, especially if you come upon a sow with her cubs.

We've had another very nice day, but not much sunshine this afternoon.  We had a few drops of rain, but it was only a tease.  There are dark, heavy looking clouds overhead, so we could still get some much needed rain.  There have been grass fire reports and unless we get a good soaking rain, conditions will only get worse.   I was counting up the days on my CoCoRaHS sheet where there was no precipitation reported, and today was the 13th day since we've had neither snow or rain.  The last was almost an inch of rain and sleet on April 20.

The latest newsletter is now posted on the web site.  It is quite large, so takes some time to load, but be patient.

Fred just sent me a link about the spot we go to for a little get-away whenever we can manage a couple days away.  It's in York, Maine, and this is about Short Sands Beach, which is where our hotel, the Union Bluff is located.  We had no idea we were walking over the remains of an old ship as we walk the beach there.  It's a small cove, but they have suffered damage along that shore during storms.  That's the Union Bluff Hotel in the background.  I think we should get over there to see it before it gets covered up with sand again.  How interesting!
