This came from Evelyn Richer this morning:

Just read about the Northern Pike caught in Joes... Golly, I guess they
tend to hang out in the marshes this time of year (deeper waters in the
hot summer days) while the water is still cool... that's right were the
loons take their chicks... so again, raising chicks is not easy... if we
see the loon family, PLEASE do not distract it... they have to watch the
air (for eagles) and the waters for BIG FISH!! What a life for them...
let's hope the fishermen catch all those big guys and mount them on their
walls!! GO FISHIN'!!!

Also: Just letting you know that the West Danville nest has produced 2 very
active chicks! First chick hatched yesterday morning (Ray witnessed the
hatching) and the second chick hatched in the early morning hours this
morning. The signs around that nest will be removed tonight, but again,
everyone is asked to be cautious while out on the pond, to watch for TWO
families... one family near the islands and points north, and the other
near the narrows (between first and second ponds) ...

Thank you Jane for helping to keep these guys safe by posting these
little announcements... Evelyn
