We just got home from the fair. We left a little early - before the band had stopped playing - because we were getting chilly. It was 61 degrees as we were driving up the road towards home. Here at home on my thermometer I have a cool 50 degrees, and I think it's continuing to slide downwards. Now it is really beginning to feel like fall.

It seemed as if there weren't quite as many people at the fair this year. Kitty Toll was selling raffle tickets (donations that will help keep the fair going) and she told us they hadn't sold as many tickets this year. It was a lively crowd, though, and we enjoyed the entertainment, as usual, both on and off the stage .

Bill and Diane Rossi went with us, and this was the first time they'd been to hear the BelAires play. We saw lots of Joe's Pond folks there, and even a few Cabot folks. I spotted Glen Goodrich working at the Danville Rescue booth, and there were Joe's Pond folks working at some of the other booths. We took lots of pictures, so I've put together a slide show. I'm pretty sure you'll see people you know - but names aren't important. You can see that everyone was having a good time, and there were lots of people dancing to the music.

We always enjoy hearing the bank. Buzzy Hubbard in the band is an old friend (Buzzy is playing guitar at the far left of the stage) and that's middle son, Bob, on keyboards, wearing his wild red Hawaiian shirt. We don't get to hear Bob play very often these days, so tonight was great fun on that account, too. Bob and Buzzy were in a band called "TANK" lots of years ago . . . different kind of music, and way more intense about their playing. Both have day jobs now, but music is still very much part of their lives. Anyway, here's a pretty long slide show:

Along the same subject, music, the Danville Select Board had a meeting this past week and have banned loud music on the public beach. This comes about as a result of the objections many close neighbors of the beach raised when a group got permission to play on Sunday afternoons at the new pavilion. The amplified music was uncomfortably loud for many people who live on or near the pond.
