Fred and I finished distributing Ice-Out tickets to our members. We found some people at home, and left tickets of those who weren't there today but we thought would be around perhaps this weekend. Tomorrow we will mail out the rest of the tickets to people we haven't been able to reach personally. JPA members get 10 tickets to sell, and almost everyone sells at least that many, and lots of folks sell way more. I've already had requests for tickets from people who aren't members but who buy tickets every year.

We got some different views of the pond while we were out today. The wind was pretty wild in some places. We were mainly on the east shore and I think the wind was out of the north. It sure felt like it. A really big change from the weather we've been having. At the upper end of the pond the lily pads were ruffled up in the wind. There were a lot of white pond lilies and it was really pretty.

We were on Island Drive, and Fred went up the rail trail to reach the Sacuk cottage.
That's their place on the left. I think the picture next to it was taken from near there on the rail trail. I was on the other end of Island Drive while Fred went to Sacuk's, so I'm not sure whose pontoon boat that is. That's looking across the pond towards West Shore Road, and at the far right is Toll's Island. Later on we were on Channel Drive and got this picture of Toll's landing. (Below). It's between Bill Hamilton's and Nancy Hamilton's.

About th
e weather. We had a front move in from Canada today. We've had a little rain, lots of wind, some clouds and then bright sunshine and finally crisp dry air. At one point Fred asked if I wanted him to build a fire in the wood stove, but instead of that we closed up the windows, one by one, as the temperature dropped, and the house is still warm enough, but outside it's only 47 degrees outside of my window right now. This kind of weather really makes you think about fall.

It will be good weather for the fair tomorrow, though. Actually, the fair started tonight with some activities - but tomorrow is the really busy day with the parade in the morning and things going on all day long and finally winding up with the entertainment in the evening. We have a busy day here, so we won't be there until evening. Bill and Diane are going with us and we'll eat there before the BelAires begin to play at 7 o'clock. I look forward to "fair food" once a year. I also look forward to seeing people we know but don't see often. As usual, we'll take pictures to show those of you who can't be there. And maybe we'll see some of you there - and get your picture for the blog!?
