Sue Bouchard just shared the following photos with me. The pictures were taken by Walter Ruf yesterday. Here's what Sue wrote:

Walter Ruf took pictures of a bear that had crossed the pond from the east side and came ashore near his camp, followed by some curious boaters. I’ve included them in this mail. The first one is coming from lake, the second is just emerging from lake and the third, which needs to be zoomed in on, shows him about to disappear into the brush on Meadow Lane. This was about 3:30pm on 7-July. Walter, not having his computer here, allowed us to download to our computer and has no problem with the it being viewed by others.

Click on the images to enlarge them. I drew a small arrow pointing to the rear end of the bear as he/she entered the woods at the edge of Walter's lawn.

I bet those boaters were surprised to find a bear out in the middle of the pond! I guess the same warning goes for bears as for the loons - give them plenty of space.

Thank you both, Sue and Walter, for these pictures.

Notice Walter kept his distance when taking these pictures! Good thinking, Walter!
