Danville Route 2 Project

Project: Danville FEGC 028-3(32)

WEEK OF 11/7/11

DAY WORK:

WATER LINE SERVICES- work on water services will continue along Route 2 between Smith Street and the Danville School throughout the week.

STORM DRAIN – Crews will work on storm drain in and around the Village Green.

ROAD WORK – In anticipation of paving Route 2, crews will be grading the roadway between Park Street and the Danville School. Crews will also be adjusting the height of catch basins so they will match the height of the new pavement.

PAVING – Wednesday through Friday, crews are scheduled to pave along Route 2 from Marty’s to the Danville School. Paving of the roadway is contingent upon favorable weather conditions.

Motorists can expect traffic delays from the alternating one-way traffic around the construction zone. Traffic control will be present to maintain traffic flow. Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly for delays.

I want to let you know about a concert Friday (Nov. 4) at 7:00 PM at the North Church featuring music of the Civil War (see the attached flyer). It is a benefit for the St. Johnsbury History and Heritage Center. It should be a wonderful show for a very good cause. Hope to see you there!

I'll get this all together eventually. I've just had a message from Amanda Legare, and this fills in some of the information on the Chef Hale Dinner coming up on Saturday. It's the 7th dinner, not the 4th - wow, time flies. Maybe it's the fourth that we've gathered at our house for it. Anyway, here's what Amanda wrote:

Members of the Cabot United Church and the community are working together on the 7th annual "New Traditions Supper". The church building is used for AA meetings, senior gatherings and the community chorus, among other things. The fuel bill is high, attendance at church itself is not. This meal is put on by Chef David Hale to raise money for the fuel fund. PLEASE consider attending - it's a great feed.

Amanda is so right - it IS a great feed. They do a super job putting such a variety of offerings together and I'm sure you'll enjoy it, whether you get take-outs or join your neighbors at the church. I'm sure Chef Hale, his students, and the ladies of the church who help put this dinner on each year would be interested in your comments or suggestions, so use the "Comments" page on the web site home page or comment here (see the little "comments" below in red? Click and write!) and we'll be sure your messages get to the right people.
Here's something you don't want to miss. I believe this is the fourth annual Chef Hale dinner, and it will be on Saturday to benefit the Cabot United Church. Here are details, thanks to Marvie Domey:

November 5, at Cabot United Church
Seatings at 5, 6:15, 7:30,
Price: Adults $12; $10 for seniors 65 and over; $6 for under 12.
Take-out available at 5:30.
Menu
Cider braised pork w/Carmelized Onions, Mashed Sweet Potato
Spinach Gratin, Special Waldorf Salad
Roasted Root Vegetables
Rolls, Cider, Coffee
Desserts: Grammie Hale's Oatmeal Cake, Pear-Cranberry Crisp, Caramel Pudding

Proceeds from the dinner are used to help heat the church during the winter months. Reservations are requested for this event and servings are offered at 5 pm, 6:15 pm and 7:30 pm. at the church on Main Street.
For reservations or take-out: 426-3281.

We look forward to this dinner every year. This year we're doing it a little differently because some of the people we get together with and get take-out to eat at our house are busy on Saturday night. Fred and I are going to get the dinners and keep them until Sunday night. I'm not exactly sure how this will all work out, but it's worth the effort since we all like the meal so much and it's so much fun to have our neighbors enjoy with us. It's also very nice to have dinner right at the church - with three servings, everyone should be accommodated. Give Marvie a call to make reservations or for take-outs: Marvie Domey - 426-3281.
