Milfoil Update

From JPA President Joe Hebert:

I am sure many are wondering about the status of the milfoil situation and wanted to provide this
update. As you may recall there are five sites that are currently affected. We have been working closely
and been guided by the state Department of Environmental Conservation as to the the best approach.
The contractor who conducted our biennial survey will be pulling the plants from the four areas that
only involve a small amount of material. The DEC will supply divers to address the more densely
populated area. Per their regulations we have hired a dive master, who is required to oversee that
operation. The DEC is coordinating these efforts and at this time we are awaiting their response as to
when this will occur.

Additionally, we have invited Kim Jensen who is the head of the invasive species program for lakes
and ponds in Vermont to attend our association meeting next Saturday. She will give us a presentation
and be available to answer any questions about our current plan and what is needed going forward.
Please make an effort to attend should you have any questions.

Joe Hebert
President JPA
