Our weather changed dramatically yesterday. It was a cooler, less muggy, beautiful summer day, and today looks like it will be much the same. While working in my flowers near the porch, I noticed no less than four bird's nests lined up between the supports for my porch. It was like a bird condo down there. I decided to take them down - most birds have raised their young by this time (unless they are starting a second brood!) I was surprised that one had three blue eggs in it - but after watching to see if there was any activity that might indicate a second brood, I decided it had been abandoned and took that down, as well. I was very aware this spring of lots of bird activity, but I had no idea they were right underneath me as I sat on the porch enjoying the lovely spring sights, sounds and smells. Today I will hose off the remaining "evidence" of birds nesting there! I might add - they really seem to like perching on the chairs out by the pond, too. I have to be careful to clean those off before sitting in them!
