Another pretty nice day - no rain, and that's good, but showers are likely tonight and possibly tomorrow. In the meantime, it's a tad muggy, but not unbearably hot like out west right now.

We enjoyed the JPA steak dinner last night. It is always great to see so many old friends and to meet and get to know some of our Joe's Pond neighbors we would
otherwise not see. I went with Jamie and Marie and then Bill, Monika and
Tangeni joined us after Tangeni's birthday bash (and with about 16
little girls in attendance, it was truly a BASH!). Tangeni was a tired
girl, but she is a trooper and we enjoyed having her with us. It was a particularly nice evening; the temperature was perfect and as usual, it
was a very congenial group there. We enjoyed Jay and Kate Chatot being
at our table - they were also helping to serve, but even though they my
our next-door neighbors, I don't see them to chat with that often. Jay
goes by on his bike, and I occasionally talk with Kate on the phone, so
it was nice to catch up with them. Joanne Stewart sent me these photos
of the work crew. By the way, the meal was really,
really good. Huge servings of everything and perfectly cooked.
This afternoon Fred's cousin Ora and her friend, Kate, came for lunch. It was wonderful to see them - it has been a while because of the Covid pandemic, so we had a lot to catch up on. It was different without Fred there - we missed his quiet sense of humor and wonderful smile, but shared some nice memories. Actually, neither of them had changed much at all, and that was good to see. Ora has wonderful stories to tell about the Wry side of the family (Fred's mother's) and we both appreciate how patient Kate is when we get into family history stuff. They are good friends and excellent company. I always look forward to getting together with them.

I had this important message from Diane Rossi late this afternoon. Diane has been planning a memorial for Bill, and that is coming right up. Here's what she wrote:
There will be a celebration of the life of Bill Rossi on Wednesday,
July 28 from 4-6 pm at the Joe's Pond Pavilion. Friends and family are
all welcome.
