Today turned out to be a fairly decent day, but not until everyone was well drenched with rain. We had a whopping 1.15 inches in the past 24 hours, according to my rain gauge. It no doubt did our environment a lot of good, but it also has (or will) cause some flooding in low-lying areas. There's a fresh breeze tonight that seems to threaten more rain, but we'll see. I believe the storm is supposed to be getting out of here this evening and tomorrow will be a great day, weatherwise.
Don't forget the steak dinner at JPA tomorrow night. I know there were limited tickets being sold, so if you don't already have yours, you may be out of luck unless someone had to cancel. There's always that chance, although, the dinners are so good, usually people don't want to miss out.
Speaking of dinners, a couple friends, Jane Milne and Bo Keach joined me in getting take-out BBQ chicken from the Cabot church last evening. Karen Cobb had to cancel, but Jane and Bo took a meal to her on their way home. We enjoyed the meal here at my house - the first time I've had guests for a meal in a really long time. It seemed good to do that, and I thoroughly enjoyed both the meal and the company. It's a great way to entertain - not much work involved, and no worries about whether what you've cooked comes out the way you expect.
Tomorrow is granddaughter Tangeni's birthday party - a big bash at camp with a variety of little girls scampering around everywhere, and some parents included. I will visit for a short time, but it is all too fast-paced for me! I hope the day is warm and sunny so they can be in the water. I'm looking forward to Tangeni and her parents joining us for dinner at the JPA pavilion tomorrow night - they will all be ready for a break, I'm sure. Uncle Jamie and Aunt Marie will be there, Uncle Bob and Aunt Theresa couldn't make it. We'll try to include them another time.
