It's rare that I have to report that there has been some act of vandalism or other illegal activity around Joe's Pond. However, I've been made aware of serious damage at the Joe's Pond Association tennis/pickleball courts. Here's what I was told:
Today at pickleball we noticed several acts of
destruction of property. There was a broken beer bottle on one court,
the straps for the tennis net were destroyed and one pickleball net has a
large hole in it. These acts may not have been done at the same time
since some children were seen playing with the pickleball nets. We ask parents to please supervise children and not allow them to
play on the courts except if they are learning/playing tennis with supervision. Also, members should be alert to
possible mischief and get names if they observe anyone doing anything
disrespectful or causing damage.
Thanks from all of us.
If something unusual is going on at the courts, JPA members should speak to the offenders if you feel comfortable confronting them, or if not, report the activity to a JPA board member.
In addition to this, there have been scattered reports of thefts in the area (as noted from Front Porch Forum). This sort of thing seems to happen in cycles, so please be aware and take extra precautions to always lock your doors and keep tools and equipment out of sight and secure. Don't make it easy for a thief to "stop and grab" your belongings.
