Correction -

The telephone number for Nick's Window Cleaning service was wrong in yesterday's post - it should be 203-648-5195.

Such a pretty day today - better get out there and enjoy these last warm days of summer - we all know what's coming! The frosty nights have moved the foliage color along a bit, though. I'm beginning to see some bright reds here and there.

Yesterday a friend was asking about the West Danville history book - when I thought it would be published, and I had to tell her probably early next year. The process is complicated, but we are moving ahead every day. Our editor told us this past week that she will be finished by the end of October. She has used much of her summer vacation time to work on this for us, even taking it with her on trips and devoting every spare minute to it. That's dedication! Her job is not only to correct punctuation - she also oversees continuity, makes recommendations on photos and edits photo captions which has meant  we've had to scurry to get permissions to use some photos, do extensive investigations to try to date photos, and some have had to be replaced. I'm sure the next time any of us write a book we will be very careful to be sure these things are all in place before it goes to editing. It's been a great learning experience for all of us.

From the editor, it goes to the graphic design artist who will whip it into something visually beautiful and do a proper index - all of that takes time. However, like our editor, she has been working on several design features this past summer and should be in good shape to pull it all together as soon as the text is fully edited. It would be wonderful if we could have it ready before Christmas, but I really doubt that will happen. We are hoping that by spring the COVID-19 pandemic will be under control enough so we might even have a proper launch celebration with book signing, etc., but who knows what our world will be like that far down the road? I'll keep you all informed here - and you can bet all media available will be used to announce publication!
