This has been a pretty busy weekend for us - after being very quiet for so many weeks, it seemed almost like "old times" when we managed to see so many of our family members. We caught  Bill's family at camp on Saturday on our way back from getting takeout at Danville Inn Restaurant. It was chicken and biscuits and was it good! Steve is a great chef - down-home cooking, for sure. Just the way we both like it - biscuits, mashed potato, dressing, plenty of chicken and gravy, generous portions, and a side of coleslaw and cranberry sauce. Way more than we could eat at one sitting.

But back to the family. JoAnn is home from college in Austin, Texas for a few weeks, and today is Tangeni's birthday  - she's 9 years old. We saw her for a few minutes at camp, but she had a friend with her and they were very busy getting kayaks sorted out and ready to go. It was good to see Bill and Monika - it had been a while.

Jamie was here on Saturday to put the charger on our car. The battery was absolutely dead. Jamie thinks it may be because we hare using the car so seldom and with all the electronics cars have today, there is a big drain on the battery, even when it isn't being used. Or it could be a faulty battery. We'll see to that on Monday. In the meantime, he lent us his car so we could go to get our food at Steve's.

Today Bob came up and we chatted with him on our deck. It was good to see him. We hadn't seen him in well over a month. He's busy at work and we totally understand that. So that left Marie and Theresa that we still haven't seen in sooooo long. Fred has seen Marie from a distance when he is walking on their driveway, but I haven't been doing the driveway much this summer - either it's too hot or there are too many bugs. Any excuse will do!

As long as we know everyone is ok, we don't mind being isolated. We know if we need something all we have to do is reach out to any of them and help is there. So good to know.

The weather has certainly been very nice for the holiday weekend, and we're hoping it stays around for a while. Today was very nice - not quite as hot but very comfortable. I couldn't believe how many cars were lined up on West Shore Road and along Route 2 over the weekend. Every camp seemed to be filled to overflowing. I'm guessing there wasn't a lot of social distancing or even face masks being used, and that is worrisome. It's hard to understand how people can be so casual about this pandemic. It is really  concerning that people don't wear masks to protect others since nobody really knows for sure if they have the virus or not. They don't have to feel ill to have it, and can give it to others. Masks are such a small favor to ask. We ask that visitors wear masks if they come anywhere near us. Masks and distancing are two very important factors, and so many people just don't seem to understand or care. I carry sanitizer with me and wipe down anything others may have touched - plus wipe my hands frequently. I plan not to touch anything or anybody, but you can't be too cautious. I would like to see this pandemic ended, so people can get back to work and businesses can open up again. That isn't going to happen if people aren't careful about spreading the disease.

So please be thoughtful enough to wear your face mask and keep your distance. You will save someone you care about from getting sick or dying.
