As predicted, it's a nasty night out there right at commuting time. I had a meeting in Danville this afternoon and left a little after 4 o'clock. It had already snowed a couple of inches, I'm guessing - enough so I had to take time to brush off the car all around. There was a little crustiness to it, too, so maybe a little freezing rain in there at the start. I got home without incident, but it was messy on the road. Everyone seemed to be using good sense and keeping the speed down. Plows will be busy tonight, I expect.

We got the shrubs covered, so they will be cozy and protected during this storm. Fred went out with me yesterday after lunch and we got it done very quickly. Cold fingers, and I wished I had done it a week or two sooner, but never mind, we're good for the winter now.
When we went to St. Johnsbury Saturday afternoon, we took this picture of the White Mountains from Dole Hill. The snow on the mountain tops showed up with the sun shining on them - very pretty. As you can see, there wasn't much snow in the Danville area, and when we got to St. Johnsbury, there was none on the ground. Such a difference!
There wasn't much going on in St. J., so we drove past the new brewery in the old St. Jay Hardware building. That certainly looks very different - great to see a new business in town.

It's good to be back home and off the roads tonight. We are probably going to get really socked with snow overnight and there will be plenty to shovel off the deck and to measure by morning. Fred has the snow blower poised and ready in the garage. Deer hunters are probably excited - but the rest of us could do without the added headaches of shoveling and plowing and the cold temperatures so darned early in the season! Drive carefully if you have to be out tomorrow - roads will no doubt be cleared, but some folks won't have their winter tires or their winter driving expertise in place so early and everyone needs to be extra careful so you can dodge 'em if necessary.
