I went for my regular eye appointment yesterday afternoon, and while Fred was waiting for me, he picked up a copy of Fortune magazine. Quite by chance, he came upon a very interesting article linking cyanobacteria to ALS and Alzheimers disease. When he got home, he found it on line and sent me links. I read it - most of it, anyway, and thought some of you would be interested. The article is very long, but at least scan through it and when you have a general idea of where it's going, where the bad stuff, BMAA is found (Cyanobacteria) and then scroll down to the bold text about 3/4 of the way down the page.

When you have finished reading that, there is another section on Serene and the foods it's found in.

Like all these preliminary studies, one needs to take a "wait and see" attitude, but the studies do look promising. Of course, what caught Fred's attention in particular was the part about the cyanobacteria. There again, we don't want to panic - it's pretty much everywhere, not just in some lakes and ponds, but hopefully since we don't have a lot here at Joe's Pond, we wouldn't be considered a "pocket." And the L-Serene as a possible weapon against ALS and Alzheimers is very encouraging. I was also interested that Dartmoth-Hitchcock is involved in the research. Anyway, take a look if you are interested.

I'm back "on duty" this morning - getting shots in both eyes knocked me out of commission yesterday. Sometimes it's a little more uncomfortable than others, and yesterday was one of those times, for whatever reason. Now I'm good for another eight weeks, so it's back to work!
