Henretta Splain sent this link to me today about Jacques Cousteau being at Harvey's Lake when he was a youngster. It seems to me I've heard something about this before, but I don't recall if it was the same story. Anyway, it's interesting.

So I went looking for more on this story and found another, almost identical with the added touch of telling us what Cousteau got in trouble about at the boys' camp that summer at Harvey's Lake. That story is HERE

Thank you, Henretta, for sending the article about Harvey's Lake and Kelly and her fellow researchers. I hope they are not still diving - the water is getting pretty cold. Shelly Walker has been swimming every day, but reported the water temperature is down to something like 65 degrees. That is way too cold for a comfortable swim!

We will probably get a frost soon and then we'll get some nice weather again - maybe. Our granddaughter Jo-Ann is now in Texas and said it is very hot there. She and the rest of the family just arrived home from Namibia, Africa this week and she headed for school in Texas almost immediately, having already missed a week or so. We're wondering how she will adapt to that kind of heat. In Namibia it is very dry and I guess you don't mind quite as much when it's 90 or 100 degrees. In Texas, it's a whole different kind of hot. And humid. I just checked and it's 85 degrees in Austin at about midnight their time, with 52% humidity. I'm sure she has air conditioning, but it could still be uncomfortable outside in the daytime. At least she won't have to wade through snow and cold this winter! She will be very happy about that!
