I have a question for you. I'm wondering if anyone recalls a cottage at Joe's Pond that burned back in December, 1964. I'm wondering where it was located. It was apparently more or less winterized, owned by Mildred Brickett (Clay Hill, St. Johnsbury) and was occupied by Maxine Kenny who worked for Gov. Phil Hoff at the time. It was close by a cottage owned by Robert Kennedy, of Danville.
I you know about that cottage and can tell me where it was located on the pond, it will be very helpful. I want to include the story in the history book, but none of the names are familiar. It mentioned in the newspaper article that Archie Blackadar was a neighbor, and that would mean it was probably on the south shore - Barre Avenue, or perhaps Edgewood Road area. Are you ready for cool weather for the next few days? It's going to feel like real fall, I think. I'm sure we'll have more warm weather later on, but right now, watch out for a nighttime frost! It could happen! It is September, after all.
Our family is back home and we talked with everyone when they were still at Logan Airport, waiting for their luggage to be off-loaded. Bill said there were something over 300 passengers on the plane they were flying, so there was no doubt a heck of a lot of luggage, too. All of that takes time. We're glad to have everyone back on U. S. soil!
We had a visit from Gary Gulka, taking GPS locations for the up-coming census in 2020. Turns out Gary is also reports weather conditions for CoCoRaHS. I knew there was someone in his area (there are location codes for every station, and I was able to figure out whoever it had to be someone in the area of Danville Hill Road) and today I found out it is Gary. Good to know. Another reporter is Jeff Merrell in Danville. We'll all be reporting snowfall measurements before we know it!
