Joanne Stewart sent me this picture and message yesterday:
Here's
an exciting find on North Shore Road. It's a monarch butterfly in
the chrysalis stage, just dangling on the side of Jane Milne's garage.
It's a strikingly beautiful jade color with gold trim. In a week or
so, the caterpillar will miraculously transform into a beautiful butterfly. Check out the life cycle: HERE
It's wonderful that we have so many milkweed around for the
butterflies, and making it possible for us to enjoy and watch this
remarkable transformation.
This is another interesting site about the Monarch Butterfly - near the bottom of the page is a very nice video with a time-lapse of the evolution of the butterfly.
The Grandparents' Day at Waterford School was fun yesterday. That is a busy, well-organized place. We are always impressed at how friendly everyone is. We met Tangeni's teacher only briefly - she had lots of other grandparents to deal with - and got to spend a little time with Tangeni. We also bumped into Amy Ash Nixon, who was there to do a story for the Caledonian Record. It was nice to see Amy again.
We were so close to Littleton, and had some errands to do there, so we scooted over there after we left the school. It was a nice morning away from my computer, but I was glad to get back home and back to business as usual.
I hope everyone is enjoying this cooler weather - I think we'll get some warmer days soon - it might take a good frosty night or two to bring it back, but we still have time for a nice Indian Summer.
