Construction Update 
Cabot Danville US 2 Reconstruction

Project Location:  The 1.4 mile project extends along US 2 from Last Road to Danville Hill Road in Cabot. This is a multi-year project with most of the work occurring in 2017/2018. Completion is scheduled for 2019.


Reduced Speed Limit – The posted speed limit has been reduced to 40 mph through the project.  Please reduce speed and use caution traveling through the construction zone. 

Expect traffic delays as there will be several active operations throughout the project.


Week of June 11, 2018
Paving the temporary overbuild from Last Road to Folsom Farm will start Tuesday
By late week the traffic pattern will be changed and traffic will be using the temporary bridge that was previously installed. A speed reduction to 35 mph will be in effect.
Excavation of the existing roadway will be starting at the Folsom Farm and progressing toward Last Rd. 
Demolition of the bridge near Last Road is scheduled to begin next week. 
Grading for the permanent roadway widening from Goodrich property to the Danville Hill Road will take place throughout the week of 6/11. Paving is scheduled to start Wednesday 
Crews will be working on final slope grading and top soiling from Goodrich property to Danville Hill Rd. after paving at this location has been completed. 
TRAVEL ALERT:  Motorists are advised that a traffic pattern change will be in effect beginning next week at the temporary bridge. The temporary bridge will be put into service and the existing bridge will be closed.  A speed limit reduction to 35 mph will be in effect at the location of the temporary bridge. The remainder of the project remains at the 40 mph speed zone. There are increased fines for speed violations within the construction zone.
Construction vehicles will be entering and exiting the work zone throughout construction hours, and as a result, alternating one way traffic patterns with flaggers will be in place. Brief delays can be expected.
