Evelyn Richer sent this to me today:

Just to let you know... last night at about 11 pm Mom reports hearing
some voices coming from the pond just off our shoreline, (she was not
aware of the earlier alert that was posted to JPA members) although their
actual words were not clearly recalled, the gist of it was that "this
house is not good, but that one is; they're gone" . . .

So there may be a planning stage going on and there could be a 'hit' all
in one night coming soon . . .

Anyway, we will be on all-night alert here at the end of Sandy Beach
Road... if you hear any loud noises LATE at night, IT IS NOT A DUCK

HUNTER!

Thanks for posting . . . we'll do our best to discourage the robbers . . .
here's hoping they read the blog, and STAY AWAY!!!

This is very much like an earlier report we had which prompted me to blog about making your cottages as burglar unfriendly as possible.  Last night was a comparatively mild night and would not have been too uncomfortable to be out on the water, I suppose.  It is very easy to launch a kayak or canoe from just about any place on the pond, so there may or may not have been a vehicle at the fishing access.  It seems unlikely anyone would be out on the pond for pure enjoyment at that time of night, this late in the season - even on a mild night.  Whatever these people were up to, we may know more eventually.  Thanks to some alert residents (and there are many now living here year around!) any attempt to rob places around the pond may hold more surprises for them than they might expect, regardless of their apparent careful "homework".   I'll keep people posted here on the blog if there are more sightings or overheard plans.
