A Little Assistance Needed

I just had a conversation with Margaret Lucenti, 1639 W. Shore Road.  Margaret and Sal, who is 93, are going to be here at Joe's Pond during July and August; however, Margaret said neither of them drive now, so they are house bound unless someone gives them a ride.  She said family helps out when they can, but they would just like to be able to "get out of the house" from time to time, to go to the Farmers' Market on Wednesdays, or Joe's Pond Association gatherings.  She said she would be happy to pay someone to drive them - but I'm sure there are also lots of neighbors who would be happy to stop and pick them up so they can fully enjoy their summer here.  Margaret said Sal is doing fine, but it was on the advice of his doctor that he has given up driving.

We don't realize how confining it can be not being able to just go out and get into your car and go someplace.  It's especially hard out here where there's little or no public transportation, and while family is available, it is also great to be a little more independent, and that can be achieved if friends and neighbors remember to include older folks.  Margaret and Sal's phone number is 563-3133.  Give them a call when you're heading off somewhere - they might like to go.
