There is a comment on home page from another disappointed Mac user who is unable to access the web cam.  We apologize - they are actually security cameras Bill and Diane Rossi generously put up so we could monitor the clock and flag setup, not realizing they would only work for PC users.  Diane and Bill have looked for possible ways to make viewing possible for Mac users, but as far as I know, there hasn't been any solution as yet.  We'll keep you posted.

The following was posted today on Cabot's Front Porch Forum:

I heard today that Stiles Pond on Route 18 between St. Johnsbury and Waterford, is showing lots of open water around the shoreline.  Historically, Joe's Pond is about two weeks behind Stiles Pond, so we could be looking at about April 29th for the clock to stop.

There is a lot of water showing around the shoreline of Hammond Pond in Goshen, MA, but Bob Labrie isn't predicting their contest will be over right away, either.  He wrote in his newsletter today that the flag is tipped at a crazy angle, but is still solidly frozen into the ice.  Apparently they've had weather very similar to ours.  Bob also mentioned he had a couple of tickets come in from Joe's Pond, Vermont.  He was concerned that we'd be upset that he's stealing some of our ticket sales (we helped him get his contest going about eight or so years ago), but there's room for everyone, and I'm glad someone from Joe's Pond is in their contest.  Wouldn't it be fun if that someone won!?  He said he has just finished entering 1,375 tickets on a spreadsheet, so you know the Hammond Pond contest is still very small compared to ours - but they haven't been at it as long.  Hopefully they are growing every year.

We think we'll do a little better this year than we did last, but we've also had extra expenses this year.  Still, the split will be right up there.  Henretta is still logging in tickets, so I can't give you a final count on anything yet.
