In case some of you were wondering if the fireworks, summer heat, or harassment by property owners had sent our flock of geese off to some other body of water, here's proof they are still very much here.
These pictures came from Ted Decker this afternoon with the following message:
A phalanx of geese headed down the pond this afternoon.
I can't be certain, but I believe there are about 36 in the top picture. It looks like a few less in the bottom one. It's about time they all have their new plumage and should be able to fly. We can only hope they decide to give their new feathers a workout shortly and take to the air, never to return again. Of course, when the weather turn colder, they will leave, but that won't be for at least two months, and they will eat an awful lot and discharge a really awful lot in that time. They are pretty swimming along, though - but the mess they leave on lawns is not at all pretty. Thanks to Ted for catching these shots of them. (Click on the picture to enlarge for better viewing.)
