Good morning. We thought you might like to see what our world at Joe's Pond looks like this morning. The rain did not reach us yesterday as predicted - instead, we got a little more snow. We now have about 10 inches on the ground, but if the forecast is correct, it will be gone in the next couple of days when temperatures will be in the 40's and maybe 50's. We know that the temps here will likely be 10 degrees or so lower than what the forecast is saying - just because we live in this slightly unusual weather region that extends from West Danville over Cabot Plain, west almost to Marshfield and north to Walden.
There was a three car pile-up on Route 2 just north of Goodrich's Maple Farm at about 5:30 last night. One person was injured, but I don't know how seriously. She was from North Hero - I believe the name is McCullen.
There were numerous fender-benders yesterday, with vehicles having to be pulled out of ditches, but nothing too serious, as far as I know now. There was probably lots of traffic on the road - travelers going to be with family for the holiday, but most people know to drive carefully in snow conditions - and even if there isn't snow on the road, there may be black ice.
Speaking of ice - notice in the picture of the north end of the pond (above) - the white showing at the far left of the shot is the marsh that is frozen with snow on top of the ice. The water temperature is getting down to the freezing point, and a seriously cold night could finish it off.
Have a wonderful day.
