Cabot Planning Commission Meeting

April 25, 2011

Willey Building

2nd Floor Meeting Room

6 p.m.

AGENDA

All Cabot residents with an interest in local land use regulation are invited to attend a public work session on Monday evening, April 25th at 6 PM, at the Willey Building in Cabot. The draft land use section of the town plan will be reviewed. The Cabot Planning Commission is considering significant changes to zoning regulations in the future including new approaches to regulation (sometimes referred to as smart growth) that will help us to retain a working landscape and a thriving village center as we experience future development.

Light refreshments will be served.

A hard copy of the draft Land Use section will be available for review at the Town Clerk’s office by Friday, April 22 – or send e-mail to request the document in pdf format: cabotplanning@gmail.com

As always, public engagement is critical to the long term success of the Town Plan. We hope to see you there!

Cabot High School Choice Presentation

Parents and community members in Cabot who are sincerely interested in hearing about the exciting opportunity of providing school choice for the town's ninth through 12th grade students are invited to hear a presentation and participate in a question and answer session.

Under this system, Cabot High School students would have the opportunity to go to any high school that is approved by the State of Vermont, as residents of Walden and many other communities in Vermont have - and would also include private institutions like St. Johnsbury Academy, while retaining our tax rate and allowing the school to focus entirely on improving its pre-kindergarten through 8th grade school. We believe this is a promising educational opportunity for our teenagers and a practical response to declining enrollment and a rising tax rate.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, at 7 p.m., at the Willey (library) Building, second-floor meeting room. Be sure to enter through the back door from the parking lot.

If you have any questions or would like more information, contact Jennifer Taylor at 563-2591.
