Well, our spring-like weather is over with and we're getting the predicted snow. Whether it will amount to the forecast 6-18 inches, we'll wait and see. It rained most of the day, but by mid-afternoon had turned to snow. It's still only about 31 degrees, so the snow is wet and heavy, but that's good because it will stick to the ice that had formed on the snow-packed back roads. Everything was very slick last night and most of today.

Woody liked the warmer weather and spent quite a lot of time on the deck sniffing the spring air. He even didn't mind getting a little wet with the rain, but as soon as temperatures dropped and we began getting snow, he retired to his fireside chair - the message is clear: Do not disturb until spring.

The rain came as no surprise - Don and Diane Sherwood arrived Friday, and as happens almost without fail, their arrival brings rain. Don professed innocence last night as a group of friends celebrated Diane Rossi's birthday, and we were glad he and his Diane were able to be with us, but when it happens like this so often, we can't help wondering what kind of dance he does when he arrives at Joe's Pond . . . !

We had a lovely evening, good food, good friends, and good conversation. It was a nice break, in spite of rain and the resulting slippery roads.
