Our big March snow storm isn't out of here yet. It's still snowing this morning and there's a pretty gusty northwest wind to move it around. This snow is much heavier than the last big storm we had. I measured 18 inches fallen in the past 24 hours, and the water content was 2.75 in. I knew it was heavy when I began shoveling to get to my measurement gauge. Fortunately, Fred came back from snow blowing and gave me a hand with shoveling off the deck. I couldn't even get the door open to get out onto the deck.
The snowbanks are getting pretty high and it's hard to get the snow from the blower directed over the top in some places. The snow isn't over yet - this storm won't be out of here until later today, so we could get another several inches. Right now we're getting some of those really big glopped-together flakes, but along with them are the fine, flakes that come straight down and you know they mean business. It builds up really quickly.
Some of you may want to consider having your camp roofs looked at again. Sorry about that, but 18 inches of this heavier snow could be serious. The good news is that this came after some rain, so most roofs were clear of snow to begin with. If you do have shoveling to do, I have another shoveler to add to the list. You'll find the info under "Comments," but here is the phone number for Gene: 802-274-1157. We understand from a neighbor who knows Gene that he is experienced at shoveling roofs.
