Our sunny weather is definitely gone and while we only got a trace of snow last night, there is more waiting for us in the next few days. I thought there was something wrong with my thermometer because it seemed to stay on 30 degrees, but today it has moved up to about 35. Fred has been out shoveling off the garage roof on the back side because that doesn't have much slope to it, and while it does have a southern exposure, the sun slips behind the big spruces and the hill in back of our house and won't hit that roof to melt it much for another 3-4 weeks. After lunch, he went down to camp to do the flat roof there. I'm not sure if he'll do the boathouse today or not - he may have had enough shoveling for one day.

We went to St. Johnsbury today for haircuts. We'd had to switch our appointment last week because of the snowstorm. We could have gone ok, but there were so many cancellations, Kathy decided to close for the day. No point in going in for just the two of us. We appreciated not having to drive that day, too. They were busy taking care of all the snow in Danville, but we didn't see much action in St. J., and the streets were narrow in spots and the sidewalks nearly inaccessible except for an occasional narrow, slushy path someone had either broken open by wading through the snowbank or shoveled one shovel width wide, and slush everywhere.

We didn't take our camera, but we should have. There is a lot of snow, especially around Joe's Pond and in West Danville. No surprises there, but we've had a fair share of snow dumped on us recently.

We stopped at Hastings and picked up mail at the post office. Garey said Jane is doing better, and that's good news. Rest is important, and hopefully she is getting that. Garey showed us the blackberry jam and applesauce that Jenny made recently. The blackberry jam is made with Danville blackberries and the applesauce is from the apple trees in back of the store. Both products are for sale at the store and Garey said people are loving them. We brought home a jar of jam and it is really delicious. When Fred gets back from shoveling the roof, I think we'll have a mid-afternoon snack of bread and jam.
