Bob Kimball responded tonight to my question about the photo he sent. Here's what he said:
yes what I call a skipper is a young deer just a few spots left on it...the deer walked down to the water next to my dock and then swam over to the lot next to Jack LaGue's mothers camp and out of the water and took off.
That's a pretty good swim for a little guy, and it makes me wonder where his mother was. It seems to me a fawn that young would still be with its mother, but perhaps not. Or maybe she crossed ahead of him and was urging him on from the other side. Just a normal swimming lesson at the pool, perhaps.
