We had a comment yesterday from Jack LaGue saying his boat was in the water during our recent snowstorm. Fortunately, it withstood the 18 inches of snow we had just fine. You can read his complete comment below yesterday's post.

Fred and Bill Rossi went to visit Larry Rossi at the
construction site on Old Homestead Road yesterday and Fred took some pictures. I thought you'd like to see how nicely we're moving ahead into spring in spite of the snow storm last week. I made a short slide show. Click here: Spring Pictures

The trees are really greening up nicely, and I have cherry blossoms coming out on the trees around our house. We checked our apple trees yesterday, and it looks as if they will be blooming ok, too. I'm soaking peas and hope to plant them this afternoon. The sun seems to be behind a gigantic dark cloud right now, so maybe my plans will need to change!

I was very pleased that we have clumps of daffodils that withstood th
e snow just fine. Now I wish I hadn't picked so many. Every day we notice more of them have popped back up. I took this picture yesterday - these were completely flattened by the snow, but now look how perky they are! Some of them didn't fare so well, though. The ones on the bank below the lilac tree aren't coming back, but that is a steep bank and perhaps gravity is playing a part. Too much of a lift necessary.

It's raining!! Darn. Our lovely day was a brief one. I had the windows open, but now we're closed up again and Fred is building us a little fire. It got chilly very quickly. That's the way it is in early May in Vermont . . . and sometimes June . . . and even July. Someone recently asked me what sort of summer I thought we'd have this year and I said "hot and cold." I think we'll have really hot days and then cold, rainy weather and back to hot, etc., just like the spring has been.
