Once more, it's hard to figure out what to wear when heading outside. The sun is bright and it looks beautiful out there, but in reality there is a brisk wind right out of Canada and the thermometer has failed to reach 50 in the shaded area at the back of our house. Last night there was a lot of wind and it sounded like winter as it whipped the house. No real damage as far as I know, and this morning is sparkling in the clear, cool air. The grass and the leaves on the trees seem to love all the rain/sun/cool weather being tossed at them. Fred is fretting because much of our lawn is going to be too wet to mow and it all really needs it. He says he'll mow what he can this afternoon and we may have to let the really wet areas go wild this summer. Good nesting places for birds.

I came across a newspaper clipping as I was organizing my desk. A few weeks back it appeared in the Caledonian Record and is about a hearing to take place on May 12 about property acquisitions along the proposed Rt. 2 Project in Danville. Yep, that still is "in the works" and after something like 30 years, they still can't move ahead with it. There had been some talk about starting this spring, or maybe in August, but "because acquisitions took longer than optimistically was anticipated, it will now begin spring of 2011." Maybe.

It's kind of interesting that several businesses in Danville that were concerned about the changes proposed having an adverse effect on them since the Green would be torn up, etc., have gone out of business for other reasons and others have taken their place - normal changes that happen over a span of over two decades. A couple of decades can make a huge difference in the overall project if one considers increased traffic, changing town plans and increased demands from all areas - enough, perhaps to make the project way out dated before it can begin. It's like haggling over a new dress until it's out of style.
