We got a little new snow overnight - about 1 1/2 inch, and a little more during the day. Fred says just enough so he felt he had to go out and snowblow. It's the right temperature to be very slippery, and it packs down in the wheel tracks and makes it hard for the rest of the winter if it isn't taken care of.

We took a short walk this afternoon. I needed to get out of the house for some fresh air. Fred had already had his exercise and fresh air, but he went with me anyway. There was a sort of mist in the air - either wet snow or light sleet. Driving may be hazardous if the temperatures drop. There was an ice fisherman on the far shore, and Fred got a picture. Not very exciting, but that's the way it is when so many of you are away from Joe's Pond.

Chef Woody came along and stopped to let us know his official opening at the Caboose on the beach will probably be Wednesday. He's getting a phone installed and everything else is falling into place, he said. He's going to drop off a printed menu which we'll show you right away. He's going to be there year around, if all goes well, so when everyone gets back in the spring, it'll be nice to have another take-out source available. I imagine he'll have picnic tables, too, in the summer.

We got to spend some time with out new granddaughter yesterday. She
and I made cookies after lunch, and she went with Jamie to meet Otto, Rico and Tilly (Otto is Jamie and Marie's dog, Rico and Tilly are cats). Jo-Ann also got to try out snowshoes. They were Jamie's and too big for her, but she managed ok and we were all pleased she seems to be adapting to snow so well. She is interested in everything and full of energy. She has a really good appetite, too - especially for cookies.

While I've been writing this, we've had enough snow to cover the deck that Fred shoveled off just before we went for our walk. I've had the scanner on to see what road crews are saying, but there isn't much chatter, so I expect things are under control.

Another Adventure

This week turned out to be a doozie for me. I had anticipated going for a follow-up on my knee on Monday, but instead ended up in the ER at ...
