A quiet day here at Joe's Pond. Fred and Bill Rossi went to St. Johnsbury to do some errands - it was mahjong day at the Rossi's. We had light snow most of the day but it didn't amount to much. This morning I measured just under an inch that had fallen since 9 a.m. yesterday, and I expect about the same will be on my snow board tomorrow morning. Fred took a couple of pictures along the way. Even St. Johnsbury looked wintery.
The town of Cabot went by at least three times sanding our road today. I can't imagine it needed that much attention, but it does keep the road slip proof! I had my scanner on for a while this afternoon to find out how the roads were and heard a call for the Cabot Fire Department to go to a home on Danville Hill Road where a stovepipe had come apart from a wood stove and there was a fire in the stove, of course, which could be pretty dangerous. I didn't find out what the outcome was, but I heard Skip Bothfeld advise the Marshfield department, that had also been called to assist, to stand by until they found out what the situation was. I expect they handled the emergency just fine as they were back in quarters very soon after. Other than that, there was very little going on, which leaves me with not much to write about.
I heard today from a friend who works for NASA in Texas. I might have mentioned him before. He is the son of one of the six Ennis boys that grew up here in Cabot, all of whom served in WWII. He is putting together information about his family. We've exchanged pictures and information in the past. I'm sending him one a copy of the oral history book, Cabot, Vermont - A Collection of Memories From the Century Past, published in 1999.
