We got a skimming of new snow overnight and it's cloudy so far this morning and 24 degrees. More like November should be. The water will be cooling down again after the warmup of all that rain, and the pond will begin its freeze-and-thaw cycle until it finally gives up and freezes solid until spring. I took this picture a few minutes ago - a little more "cat-ice" than when I posted a picture a few days ago.
We enjoyed the organ concert at Cabot church yesterday evening. There was a good turnout and we saw some Joe's Ponders there. I'll post more about that later. Now I have to get ready to go outside to get my CoCoRaHS information to make my report at 9 a.m.
I'm back. We got 3/4 in. new snow in the past 24 hrs. and there is now 2.5 in. at the stake.
As for the concert last night, Isaac James is a very talented young man. Everyone seemed to enjoy the concert very much. There were a few familiar Christmas type selections in his program, but also some apparently very technically intricate pieces written expressly for the organ. We were given a hand out program which described each selection so we knew what to listen for.
The church was well filled with people of all ages, including babes in arms. The children were very well behaved, the audience completely absorbed and appreciative of Mr. James' generous gift of his time and talent to help raise money to keep the historic old organ operating. The organ, old as it is, certainly sounded great to my untrained ears and stood up to the nimble fingers and feet of of a professional who was "pulling out all the stops" and testing it right to its windchest.
We noticed a distinct atmosphere of calm and community spirit in the church last night. People were congenial, relaxed and happy. Marvie Domey, in her introductory message, suggested the audience forget the stressful times many of us are facing and enjoy the evening, and it seemed to us everyone there did exactly that.
