You may remember a couple weeks ago I mentioned the new modular home being built on Cabot Plain, and posted a picture on September 26. I talked with Erica Burke, the owner, this morning and she told me that while she and her husband, Bob, haven't actually moved it yet, the house is finished. She said it all got set up in about three weeks and she is very pleased with everything. Pretty neat, isn't it? She invited us up to go through, and I think we'll try to do that very soon. The Burkes have four children, all going to Cabot School. They are a military family and this will be the first time they've spent a whole winter in Vermont.

I want to remind folks in the area about the Apple Pie Festival and Silent Auction coming up on Saturday, October 18. You'll find directions for entering the Apple Pie Contest on our web site (sidebar menu); also, they are looking for items for the Silent Auction. This is the only fund raiser the Historical Society has, so I hope you'll look through your attics or where you store unused items and donate to the cause. If you do hand-work such as knitting or crocheting, quilting, or crafts, that would be a nice item to donate. Call 426-3281 or 563-2567, or get in touch with me to arrange pickup or for more information.

If you can, plan to spend some time at the Festival. There will be lots of pies for sale and in the contests - there are two, the adult and junior category -
with truly dedicated folks doing the tasting and judging. The contests are in the morning, and there is a big all-day craft fair, lunch (soup, sandwiches, hotdogs, chili, and baked goods including pie!) entertainment, games - something for everyone. It's at the gym, right on Main Street. Bring the family and your friends. They'll be glad you did!

Another Adventure

This week turned out to be a doozie for me. I had anticipated going for a follow-up on my knee on Monday, but instead ended up in the ER at ...
