I'm posting again that fall foliage shot taken by Pat Parizo on West Shore Road last week. It is a beautiful shot. I took the one below in our back yard on Monday. The leaves are beginning to drift to the ground, so some of the trees are pretty bare, but others still have a lovely dressing of color.
Today is starting off to be lovely with lots of sunshine. I worked in my flower beds a little bit yesterday, and hope to get back out there again today to

Fred has mowed the lawn for the last time and Harry (of Harry's Small Engines in Walden) came last night to get the mower and the snow blower for service. The mower to be put away for the winter, the snow blower so it will be ready for our first snowstorm. Sometimes it's been a little too close for comfort getting the snow blower back before we need it . . . we sometimes have snow on the ground in the first week of October. We've never had to give Harry a panic call to get the machine back because we needed it, though.
Next week we'll be getting the remainder of our wood supply for 2010. We also have a big old maple in back of the house Fred will be taking down, so we'll both be busy with wood for a while. It's better to do it when the weather is cool - it's hard work made harder when it's hot weather.
