We're back from Polly's Pancake Parlor. Most of the day was cloudy and drizzly, but on the way home through Groton and Peacham, the sun did come out for a bit and showed off the foliage. The pancake parlor was busy, as usual, and while the view wasn't as nice as we'd have liked, the food was good and we enjoyed our trip. Bill and Diane Rossi went with us. They hadn't been to Polly's, and we wanted to go before the place closes in mid-October. We enjoyed the scenery on Sugar Hill (see first photo) where actress Bette Davis had a home, the next photo is Polly's Pancake Parlor (that's Bill and me on our way in - I think Diane was ahead of us) and we came home by way of Woodsville, Wells River, Groton, and Peacham. We found sheep on East Hill in Peacham, and some of the best foliage around was back home in our own area, as you can see in the last picture. It was just the right kind of day to take a road trip, and although it would have been nice to have had more sunshine, we would all probably have wanted to be at home doing the fall chores like taking in tender plants before tonight's cold snap. But there's still time, and now I'll go out and rescue the few I still have outside, just in case we do get snow flurries tonight . . .
