Here at Joe's Pond we're in the midst of brilliant colors, along with some clouds and a few rain showers, but this morning on Mt. Mansfield, a few miles away, there was the first snow of the season. It was gone by afternoon, according to the WCAX weather report, but it's certainly a harbinger of weather waiting just weeks away.

More of our summer folks have left. The tourists traveling through on buses or in their travel homes or their cars stop briefly; some of them travel cautiously a little way on a back road, but on a day like today the wind in West Danville that hits them full force as they step out of their vehicle discourages most from hanging out with the locals for very long. The wind has sent showers of red and orange leaves down on the roads and lawns today, stripping some of the more exposed trees bare; but there's still a lot of color.

The picture above is the scene from our living room window. It chang
es constantly as the sun come and goes or the storms come down the valley from Walden. Sometimes there's a rainbow as a shaft of sunshine cuts through the mist or rain drops. If you enlarge the picture on the right, I think you can see a faint image. Seconds after I snapped the picture, the rainbow had disappeared.

Fred has now finished re-designing most of the pages on our web site - certainly you've noticed home page, but if you haven't explored any of the other pages on the menu, you may not be aware of all the changes. He finished the "Local Products" page tonight - take a look:
Local Products
We would like to have more items to list, so if there's a product you make - a craft or hobby you'd like to sell, or if you know of someone who you think would like to be included, let us know. Some local artists have their own web sites, and we list them separately under "Links." With the holidays coming up, you may find just the right gift, all the more special because it's "Vermont made" by someone you probably know. I gotta tell you, Cherese Mason's (Edgewood Ave.) "Tucker & Wyatt's Gourmet Doggie Biscuits" were a big hit with our canines at Christmas last year, and since you know there's only really good stuff in them, you can give them to pups whose humans are really, really fussy about what their pets eat!

Check out some of the other pages, too. There are loads of links to other interesting web sites, and we're always adding and updating.

Another Adventure

This week turned out to be a doozie for me. I had anticipated going for a follow-up on my knee on Monday, but instead ended up in the ER at ...
