There was some interesting stuff going on here on W. Shore Road today - but of course we missed it all. Well, we heard motors and voices, but that's not unusual and we didn't pay much attention. Between our son, Jamie, above us with his motorcycles, tractor and assorted vehicles and the Randalls across the road from us with various tractors and vehicles, there's always the hum of some motorized contraption going on. We tune in briefly, saying "Jamie's got his tractor out," or "Somebody's working down at Randall's," and then we go about our business. Sometimes we know that John is here because the tractor sounds start earlier in the morning and sometimes it sounds as if there are at least two rigs going at once. Today we heard the usual motors and a few voices down by their mailbox, and since we'd noticed a red dump truck parked down on Randall's drive, we thought perhaps Jason had traded his black pickup in for it and was using it for some job around the place. However, now we wish we'd investigated.

Tonight I received some e-mails and pictures from Jason's mom, Liz. Here's what she told us:

TODAY:
ACTION ON WEST SHORE ROAD
Jason sold his 1947 [Ford] Marmon Herrington dump truck to the owner of Marmon Herrington Company. He believes it might be going to the MUSEUM in Kentucky .We will let you know if he finds out. The truck was originally owned/used by the Town of Shrewsbury VT; Jason was the 3rd owner. Jason moved the truck up onto the road so the driver could load it easier. Jason was able to start the truck and drive it up the ramps..truck actually RUNS GOOD....

I know it was hard for him to part with his truck but it really needed a new home so the weather doesn't eat it up...He'll miss it, but he has these wonderful memories and pictures....and anyway, he needs to buy dogfood at this time of his life...Liz & John

So, we didn't ever get a closeup view of the red dump truck - Fred did take a picture from a distance, but we didn't know it was a rare find and wouldn't be in the neighborhood for long. Thanks to Liz we now know what we missed. I guess we'd better start being nosier about what's going on in the neighborhood . . . That's a nice picture of Jason and Tessie - she's grown a lot this summer.
