Fireworks on Wednesday Evening!

Most Joe's Ponders know that the fireworks display will be on July 3, this next Wednesday, weather permitting. Should there be rain, they will be on Friday, July 5th.

There has apparently been a rumor that the number of boats allowed into the middle pond will be limited. That is not true. There is no way JPA would have the authority to restrict boaters on the pond. The pond is open to the public, always.

That said, boaters will need to be cautious getting through the narrows into the lower two ponds to view the fireworks, and even more careful when leaving. It will be dark and boats will need to wait their turn to get through the narrows safely. Have patience and please be courteous. It is easy to misjudge your distance from shore when it's dark and there are other boats around, and you risk running aground and damaging your boat or prop. Please move slowly so your wake will not impact others. If you are watching from the first pond, be aware there is an increasing current close to the dam at the outlet of the pond, so if you lose power, use an anchor to keep your boat from being swept past the village dock into the main current. We want everyone to be safe and have a good time.
