Sad News

I received the following note from Jack LaGue today about his mom, Dolly:

Dolly passed away this morning.  It was unexpected, or as unexpected as can be for a 93 year old.  We are thankful that she died peacefully in her sleep.

Her legacy is 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren (with another one on the way).  Last summer was the first summer that she had not spent at the camp at Joe's Pond since she and dad built the camp in 1961.  I would appreciate it if you could put a notice on the blog so people will know.

This is sad news as once again we have to say goodbye to a long-time Joe's Ponder. It was strange not seeing Dolly at social events this past year but of course we understood that it's a long trip from Texas to Vermont, and many of us can appreciate age brings limitations that can make traveling difficult. Dolly had many friends here after over 60 years at Joe's Pond and being active in Association activities. After her husband, John, died in 2005, Dolly continued to come to camp where friends and family were always welcome. She knew lots of people and it was a joy to chat with her.

Our thoughts are with Jack and the others in Dolly's large family at this very sad time. Condolences may be sent  the LaGue family at Dolly's address, 101 Ran Rd, Leander TX 78641, or to Jack and Sue at 7130 Fairway Bend Ln #289, Sarasota FL 34243.
