A Moon Shot & Responsible Wakes Report

Much cooler - nice change for most of us - but I'm finding more leaves on my deck every morning as I go out to check the rain gauge. Our summer is definitely winding down.

My friend, Mary Whitcomb sent this picture taken by her last week when the moon was full. Her photo was published in a local newspaper.  I don't know how many times I've tried to take "moon shots" and failed. Mary seems to get fabulous pictures effortlessly - although I know there are times, like for this shot, that she has to plan and time everything perfectly so that she will be in the right place at the right time. Great shot, Mary, and thank you for sharing.

A plea to Vermont's Agency of Natural Resources: HERE. I guess it is up to our legislature now to decide what is the right thing to do. As with most questions, there are two (or perhaps more) sides to consider. And not everyone is going to be happy, whatever they decide.

I haven't had much energy today - perhaps it's because it's been dreary outside. It's actually kind of mellow - the air is soft and not awfully cold - in fact. the temperature has been creeping up all day in spite of not having any sunshine. We haven't had a lot of rain, but sprinkles off and on all day keeping everything green and clean.

My garage foundation is finished and this is perfect weather for the newly-seeded grass to catch and grow. The large area that got dug up is already showing a green tinge with young sprouts of grass. I  watered it a few times when it was first seeded, but with the gentle showers recently, that is taken care of nicely. I am really enjoying having the garage fixed. No more cracks where mice and squirrels could enter freely, and when I sweep it, dirt doesn't collect in big cracks. I picked up a big floor squeegee at Larrabee's Building Supply the other day so I can wash it down when needed. It is a new experience for me to have a floor in the garage that doesn't absorb water! The old floor was never sealed, plus it had numerous cracks so whenever it got wet the water disappeared quickly. Not so with this new floor! I'm not going to want to put my car in there after I've driven through winter slush or spring med! It's like having another really big room to keep clean - I never worried much about mud or snow in the old garage - shoveled it out or left it until warm weather. It will be interesting to see how it goes this winter. Probably I'll just not take my car out on really slushy days!

Another Adventure

This week turned out to be a doozie for me. I had anticipated going for a follow-up on my knee on Monday, but instead ended up in the ER at ...
