PB Results, A Reminder, and More

 Here is a note from Tom Segale about Pickle Ball Weekend:

Good morning all.  Thank you to everyone who participated in the PB wknd of festivities.   It was definitely a group effort in putting this together.  We had a record number of people playing and we raised a record $2,265 which is very exciting.  Thank you to everyone who donated.

We had an exciting finals match on Saturday with a first father/son duo taking home the pickles.  Congrats to Paul and James “J-Man” McMann and also to our second place team Teo Bravakis and Danielle Lewis!  Thank you Louie, Pam and Joanne for running things.

Sunday in the intermediate level we had Peter and Paige taking home the Pickles with  Norma and Andrea giving them a good battle.  Great job everyone.

In the advanced round we had 10 teams participating and tremendous finals match with Danielle Lewis and Jamie Semprebon earning the pickles trophy against the more mature and very consistent Duo of Mike and Joe.  There’s no doubt we had the biggest and rowdiest crowd in attendance for this match. Congrats to Danielle and Jamie!

And a  special thanks to Bob “Cloudy” MaCloud for keeping us on task and telling us who to play on Sunday!!

And from Susan Chatot:

This is a reminder the last Sunfish Sailboat race is this Sunday. The race starts at 1pm sharp. Following the race is the Award party at Mark and Rosie Smith’s place on North Shore Road.  The winners of the Single Division and Double Division will be awarded their trophies. In memory of Dr. Fred Silloway, one sailor will be recognized as the Most Improved Sailor.

My hope is everyone who has a "Joe’s Pond Sunfish Race" T-shirt wear it that day!  It will be awesome to get a photo of everyone wearing their T-shirts!

Happy Sailing

 ++++++++++++++++++++

It seems as if my days have been busier than usual lately and yet I don't have a lot to show for it. I have a few "projects" on the back burner most of the time because my attention span is limited on most days and I like to be able to switch to something more interesting when necessary. I usually think about what I have to do the following day as I'm falling asleep at night. Yep, that puts me to sleep better than counting sheep ever did! However, I often shuffle projects and do something entirely different than I'd been planning.

One of my projects this week that I did accomplish was to get some of the trim on my house painted. There wasn't a lot - the top riser on my deck steps needed to be touched up from all the shovel marks made last winter when I was cleaning snow off the steps, a deck chair had wooden pieces on the arms that needed paint badly, and the railings on my small back deck needed to be redone. Nothing that involved climbing ladders or even masking tape. Those things I accomplished in between showers.  I also got my new smoke alarm armed and up in the back hall - that took two trips to Larrabee's to get the right fixture. I wasn't paying close attention and got a hard-wired one the first trip. It sure is handy to have a full-service hardware store so close! They are the most helpful group of people ever down there, so it's never a chore to go there.

I had a couple new projects come to me that will require some computer work, and that is always a fun diversion, especially with all the rainy days we've had.

Speaking of rain, I visited farm friends a few days ago over in Walden and they are processing a fourth cutting of hay this year. I was amazed. I didn't ask if they bale it or chop it, but either way, harvesting that many times is quite unusual. That's one thing good about alternating rain and hot days - grass grows like crazy. My lawn is a great example of that, too. It seems like it's ready for another mowing every three or four days, but mine doesn't get done that often; I prefer to let it get a little long and not clip it too short or too often, just in case we get a dry spell. No worries about dry spells this year!

My garage job is moving along, but slowly. I think the walls will be poured Thursday, and hopefully next week things will begin to shape up more quickly. Everyone is super busy, short of help, and trying to work around the rain on projects like this. Best not to worry about any of it - stuff happens!

Tomorrow may be another pretty nice day, so enjoy what you can of it!
