LVRT Notices!

There have been notices on Front Porch Forum that the LVRT is closed - completely - until further notice from the Agency of Transportation. After seeing some of the damage yesterday, it seems to me it is a wise decision and people should heed that advice.  Not only could you be in danger of getting injured or damaging your bike, you could contribute to more unintended damage because the ground is so wet and unstable due to the recent rain. I measured .94 in. in my rain gauge this morning. Today has been sunny, but with so much humidity in the air, things haven't dried out much. Please heed the warning and find some other activity until AOT gives out more information. I'll plan to watch for new postings and re-post here.

From 3 days ago:
"IMPORTANT: "The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail remains closed. AOT staff is assessing and cataloging the damage to the trail and developing a timeline for repairs. Apart from the evident problems such as damage to bridges and culverts, AOT has identified several places where embankment failures and significant washouts may pose more danger than is apparent, and these concerns may be worsened by the rainfall on 7/21.

In order to keep everyone safe and give AOT time to develop a plan for better communication and signage for areas that will remain closed for a longer duration, the entire trail will remain closed until further notice. Several trail segments received very little damage, and we expect to have more information available soon about segments that can safely be re-opened." - Vtrans"

LVRT Regional Amenities Meeting Aug. 1 & 2

Gary Gulka • Urban Farm Way, Cabot

Announcement

The towns of St. Johnsbury, Danville, Cabot, Walden, Greensboro, and Hardwick have received state grant funding through the Northern VT Development Association (NVDA) to improve access and amenities along the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (LVRT) and improve connections to the towns. Studies are underway to identify parking and access areas to the trail, signage, and amenities for trail users. A second round of public meetings are being held in person and remotely for a Conceptual Alternatives Presentation by the consultant. This is an opportunity for members of the public to share concerns and provide comments on alternatives.

Two separate meetings are being held as follows:
