Beautiful Day

Our day started off overcast and in the teens, but then the sun came out and the temperature got into the low 30s, but only briefly. It's headed back down now that the sun is going down. It was very nice to have sunshine - we've had a long stretch of gloomy days. I was outside a couple of times today, and took a short walk on the road. I was glad there wasn't much traffic as there is some melting and slush in spots. There is also some hard-packed snow/ice in spots, but I wore my cleated boots and had my ski pole with me, so I felt very secure. I haven't walked much this winter - just lazy; but I'm hoping to do more in the coming weeks.

I had a brief email from Ray Walker today and I'm happy to report that he said they are all doing well. He said he is very thankful for all those who assisted.  It must have been and probably still is a nightmare for them. It took quick thinking and action on Ray's part to reach them and get to them on the ice and then get them into the boat. I'm just happy they are all ok.

This will be the last few days I have Thor to keeping me company. He has been a wonderful kitty house-guest, but I'm sure he will be excited to be with Tangeni again. As you can see, he has his own chair in the living room right next to the window where he can watch the birds at the feeder. Sometimes they annoy and keep him awake - but when they aren't at the feeder driving him crazy, he catches an upside-down catnap.  I imagine his days are a lot more exciting with Tangeni than they are with me. He has adapted well, though, and now has fewer sometimes-destructive spurts of energy - plus, I've put away the Christmas decorations and a few other temptations to keep him out of serious trouble. I started brushing him every few nights, but the two kitty brushes I had have mysteriously disappeared, so he has to make do with lots of petting and belly rubs. I'll find the brushes and other toys und some piece of furniture or in the far corner of a closet eventually, I expect, and next time he comes to visit, they will be available.

As we settle into a more realistic winter, be safe and stay healthy.

What a relief to know Tito is ok. The ice has been so unstable with all of the rain, wind and freeze/thaw. Be safe everyone.

Catching Up

As our lovely autumn days begin to turn a bit chill and dreary - the transition from October to November is like that  - I want to share so...
