We've had a steady sifting of snow falling all day, but it was very light and fine, and hasn't piled up much. However, I measured a good strong six inches this morning at 9 a.m. that fell overnight. We probably added an inch or two during the day, but certainly not enough to worry about. Hopefully the skiers and snowmobilers will be happy to have some nice natural, fluffy snow to play in. We can expect some wind and more snow this coming week, but it's not going to be bitterly cold.
A friend who fishes on the ice tells me the ice is about a foot thick where he fishes, near the east shore. I still don't trust it. There should be twice that by this time, I believe. We have always said that no matter what kind of crazy weather we get, the pond seems to do its thing every year and we don't often have an unusually early or late date when the ice goes out. This year could be different. Only time will tell!
I just had a message from Joanne Stewart letting me know the link I provided for the public meeting on wake boats no longer works. Apparently the date has changed. Here is a new LINK that should work ok.
Stay well, safe and be happy!
