Identification of Ice Bikers!

I'm happy to let you know that the three bikers were actually year 'rounders, the children of Caroline and David Porter on North Shore Road, and their grandfather, Harvie Porter. The children are also the great-grandchildren of Jane Milne, who lives on the same road. Caroline sent an email to let me know who the mystery bikers were.

I expect snowplows are being gassed up ready for the big snowstorm that's headed our way. March snowstorms can be pretty intense, but even though we may have a lot of snow dumped on us, it will be gone quickly. The down side is always that all that snow has to melt and then we have flooding to watch out for along streams. The water level int he pond will probably come up next week, too, and that will accelerate the melting process. We have just  three weeks to purchase Ice-Out tickets and get them in to the contest committee. Three weeks from tonight at midnight, the contest is officially over - on April 1. Better get your pick(s) in soon. Tickets have been selling well, so there will be a good-sized check waiting for the winner -- probably around $5000.00, as in past years. That would be a welcome boost especially this year with prices soaring.

Stock up on food for the weekend, don't travel unless you have to. Keep your pets inside, and check on neighbors who may need help. There are going to be high winds according to the forecast, so tie down or put away anything loose that could be blown through a window or be damaged. If  you have to drive, be extra alert for white-out conditions and  fallen limbs and/or trees in the road. The wind this past week did some damage to trees in the area, blocking roads temporarily. Crews will be out plowing and doing their best to keep roads open, but be aware there could be limbs, trees or power lines down, and that can be dangerous. Stay warm and safe, and don't forget to set your clocks ahead Saturday night!
