So sad to report that Homer Fitts died on Monday. He was 94. Homer had been a faithful and enthusiastic Joe's Ponder for many years, and lived here year around after his retirement. He and his wife, Elsie, worked hard to support the Association in a variety of ways, and Homer was one of the original organizers of the Joe's Pond Ice-Out Contest. After Elsie died, he and his second wife, Margaret, decided to sell the home on the pond, but they were still frequent visitors here and attended every social event they could manage, still supporting the Association and keeping in touch with their many friends. Homer went to live in an assisted living facility after Margaret passed away, and recently he had moved to a full care facility. I missed his frequent phone calls and emails these past months. He was always interested in what was happening here, and we will miss that. My thoughts are with his family - they will miss him, dearly. Homer enjoyed an active life for many years, and he sure did liven things up, wherever he went. I'm sure his many friends miss him, but we all have fond memories. I will post details regarding any services as soon as they are published.
