Rain Keeps Coming!

There was a lot of rain during the night - I just measured 2.5 in. and with it still raining steadily, there is a lot of water pouring into the pond from the hillsides. Those of you who are on the water, remember to loosen the mooring lines on your boats if you have a stationary docking system, otherwise, your boat could be held down and swamped. Also be on the lookout for runaway toys and buoys. High water is bound to happen when there is this much rain - if not today, in the hours ahead as the pond fills from all the runoff.

Please drive carefully if you need to be out on the highways today. With so much water on pavement, your car can hydroplane out of control easily. And remember not to try to drive through water across the highway; there is no way to know if the road is still intact where the water is rushing over it and you could find yourself in a bad situation.

We do need the rain, and hopefully a lot of it is being soaked up by the parched landscape, but this is a lot to absorb, and there will be some flooding in the lower regions of our area, and probably around the pond.

I'm going to be busy painting today, but I intend to check my email frequently, so if there are problems that need to be addressed here, let me know. My email is janebrowncabot@gmail.com, or give me a call at 802-563-2381. I'll have my portable phone with me so I don't have to run into the house every time it rings. Be safe and enjoy the rain!
